The Moormeier Community Foundation

First time team meeting

The Moormeier Community Foundation was inspired by the Moormeier family's visits to Uganda and their friendship with Bob, whom they met during their first trip. Jackie, Joanne, and their daughter Faith were deeply touched by Uganda's beauty, people, and culture, leading them to return for a second visit accompanied by their father and Joanne's close friend, Kelly.

During their travels through communities surrounding Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Kibale National Park, and Queen Elizabeth National Park, they witnessed significant challenges, including water shortages in the hilly areas of Bwindi, children lacking basic necessities, and the ongoing struggles faced by Batwa communities. They also observed the need for improved education, healthcare, and sustainable livelihood opportunities in conservation areas.

Motivated to make a difference, the family established the Moormeier Community Foundation to support vulnerable communities while promoting environmental conservation. The foundation focuses on improving access to clean water, supporting children's education, empowering marginalized groups, enhancing community well-being, and creating sustainable income opportunities through tourism and community enterprises.

By working with local communities, conservation partners, and organizations such as Harambee Gorilla Safaris, the foundation aims to create lasting positive change where people and nature thrive together.
