Our Story

Harambee Gorilla Safaris was born from a journey that turned into something far greater than we ever imagined.

During a visit to Uganda, Joanne and Jackie (along with Joanne’s daughter Faith) experienced the beauty of this incredible country for the first time. It was there that we met Bob—and from that very first moment, there was an instant connection. What began as a safari quickly became a friendship that felt like family.

As we spent time together, we realized we shared the same passion: a deep love for the mountain gorillas and a desire to protect them, while also making a meaningful impact on the communities that call Uganda home.

We have returned to Uganda several times since, and each visit has only strengthened that bond. There is something truly magical about Uganda—the people, the landscapes, and the once-in-a-lifetime experience of standing face-to-face with mountain gorillas in the wild.

Bob -Founder & Operations Director

Bob leads all safari operations in Uganda, bringing deep local knowledge and hands-on experience in the tourism industry. He oversees every aspect of the guest experience, including guides, transportation, lodging, and national park coordination, ensuring each trip is seamless, safe, and authentic.

Bob’s deep love for his country and passion for conservation make him one of the most incredible and knowledgeable guides we have ever experienced. His dedication to sharing the beauty, wildlife, and culture of Uganda is what makes each safari truly unforgettable.

Joanne and Jackie Moormeier- International Marketing Partners

Joanne and Jackie serve as the international connection for Harambee Gorilla Safaris, helping travelers feel confident and supported when planning their journey to Uganda.
